International Holocaust Remembrance Day

January 27, 2016

Dear Friends,

The Consulate General of Israel in New York would like to ask for your cooperation we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Daytaking place today, January 27th.

With each passing year, we grow increasingly distant from the terrible events of the Holocaust, and regrettably we are left with fewer and fewer survivors to bear witness. At the same time, we see that antisemitism across the world is still rearing its ugly head.

That is why this year the staff at the Consulate General of Israel in New York decided to mark this day by lighting six virtual candles on our Facebook page, to memorialize the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Among these virtual memorials is a video we produced of Holocaust survivors based in New York.

Each of the six posts that will be published today represent a candle that you can help burn bright. We ask your cooperation by visiting our Facebook page, liking and sharing the posts: https://www.facebook.com/IsraelinNY.

We hope that with your help we will be able to reach as many people as possible around the world.

To remember and never forget, לזכור ולא לשכוח.

Kind regards,

Ms. Galit Peleg
